Joseph Rossini is a senior partner/shareholder of Tao Rossini, APC. He has been involved in the construction industry for much of his life. He grew up in a family of small contractors and construction workers. Before entering law school, he was the controller and acting CFO at a trucking company that hauled precast concrete, pipeline, and other construction materials for many of California’s largest contractors and utility companies.

Mr. Rossini primarily represents school districts and other public entities, contractors, and subcontractors in matters related to planning, construction, and the resolution of disputes arising from large public works construction projects. He has pursued and defended claims arising from defective design documents, professional negligence, delays, disruptions, and changed conditions.

Mr. Rossini has represented clients in arbitrations, mediations, at trial and on appeal. His experience includes areas of bid disputes, claims, mechanic’s liens, stop notices, and performance, payment and release bond actions on large public and private construction projects. In addition, Mr. Rossini has advised clients on the bidding, drafting, and awarding of construction contract agreements for public works projects, construction management services, and other professional services.

A few of Mr. Rossini’s most significant matters include defense of a school district against a contractor’s claim for $2.5 million that ultimately resulted in the district recovering $1 million on its cross-complaint; recovery of $1.5 million for defective work and false claims for a school district; recovery of nearly $1 million in settlement of a claim by a third-tier contractor concerning the construction of a large hospital; and successful defenses of bid protests on behalf of a contractor and a school district for projects in excess of $1 million.

Education

Mr. Rossini received his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Redlands in 1995. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1998.
